HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE NEW MAP’S TEST SERVER?

PUBG Corp. has not revealed specific details for participation, but promised to do so on Monday. As a hint of what’s to come, the developer said fans should watch all PUBG social channels to maximize their chance of success. That being said, we imagine the test will initially function on a limited key system. It’s possible keys may be sent to some players at random, but you may also have to seek them out too.

You can now sign up for access to test the new, 4x4km map, Codename: Savage on our Experimental Test Server. The first testing period will begin today at 7PM PDT. Sign up here: http://mapbeta.playbattlegrounds.com/

This will be an early, unfinished version of the map. Your feedback during this testing period will help drive the direction of our development.

In that case, here are the PUBG social links you should be keeping track of: FacebookTwitterYouTubeTwitch and Steam. Any one of these places is likely to offer keys starting Monday.

Those who are unable to participate in this first wave of tests shouldn’t feel too discouraged. Because the 4×4 map is so early on in development, there will be many more opportunities to test in the future. In advance of any possible disappointment, PUBG Corp. has already promised that “the next test will be bigger.”

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT ‘PUBG’S ISLAND MAP?

Not much has been revealed about the map beyond its 4×4 size, roughly half the size of a standard PUBG map. A brief tease at GDC showcased the landscape’s rolling hills, winding river and claustrophobic villages, but it’s still hard to get a sense of how the Asian-inspired space will play. Its smaller size will likely make gameplay more chaotic, but we don’t know that for sure.

PUBG’s 4×4 Island map has rolling hills, winding rivers and really tight spaces.

A public release date is not known at this time, but Salvage is one of two maps planned to arrive within the calendar year. PUBG Corp. seems keen to take its time given recent negativity surrounding the Miramar desert map. By starting testing earlier than before, the developers hope to gather lots of feedback.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now on PC and in Game Preview on Xbox One. Speaking of Miramar, you may want to check out the flare gun event mode happening there this weekend.

What are your thoughts on the 4×4 Island Salvage map so far? Will you be playing on the Test Server next week? Tell us in the comments section!

I like the game despite all of the hate, but would indeed be perfect if 60 fps on X. 4K assets are good and all but 60fps is why Fortnite, n now H1Z1, are stealing ur spotlight. Besides that, great job, hopefully it continues just getting better
